Brighton & Hove Living Wage Campaign, run for over five years by Brighton Chamber, and funded by Brighton & Hove City Council, it was launched to encourage local businesses to pay employees a decent hourly rate.
Just in time for Living Wage Week, the 350
Living Wage employer to sign-up to the local campaign was Brighton-based digital start-up
Brighton Chamber director, Sarah Springford said ‘Living Wage Week has been a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the success of the Living Wage campaign in Brighton & Hove and the unique business community here’.
On 6 November the new Living Wage rates were announced. This happens annually and they are calculated based on the average cost of living in the UK and London.
The new rates:
- £8.75 per hour across the UK
- £10.20 per hour in London
Employers have until April 2018 to implement the new rate for all employees (interns and apprentices are excluded).
