How to Crowdfund for your StartUp
After the sell out success of their previous Brighton meetup their attentions now turn to ‘How to Crowdfund for your Startup’. Crowdfunding is fast becoming the go to platform for all types of startups as a way to leverage funding.
As well as becoming a more mainstream means for start-ups to advance the required capital they need to grow it’s also a very powerful way to create a genuine community around your product or service.
But is it right for you?
Join Virgin StartUp at Platf9rm on the evening of September 21st where they will have a carefully curated selection of inspirational and engaging guest speakers discussing their experience with various crowdfunding platforms and how it affected their businesses.
Speakers Amy and Ruth Anslow – Founders hiSbe Amy and Ruth Anslow are sisters, entrepreneurs, and supermarket rebels! In 2010, fed up with the way big supermarkets do business, they decided to create a different kind of supermarket, powered by local people, community spirit, and a social enterprise business model.
Together they built a following of hundreds of supermarket rebels and in 2013 launched the first hiSbe Food store with their friend Jack Simmonds. hiSbe stands for “how it should be” and champions small, local producers and brands that trade responsibly.
Amy and Ruth are committed to developing hiSbe Food into a national chain that transforms supermarkets for good, in order to create a more fair, responsible and sustainable food industry for the future.
Antonio Weiss - Co-founder Thomas Clipper
Three years ago, Antonio Weiss and Matt Brown joined forces to launch the first Thomas Clipper razor on Kickstarter. Sleek and elegant, it was a huge success raising £3.5k over its initial target. This one razor has subsequently spawned further projects such as a beautiful Italian-leather wash bag and the Neolithic Shave Set with a lathering bowl and brush made from 5,000-year-old semi-fossilised British oak, but throughout the journey, the two men have always canvassed support from their solid fanbase before adding products to their line.
Virgin StartUp is hugely honored to have Antonio sharing the inspiring story of how Thomas Clipper successfully gathered the crowdfunding required to keep this exciting brand going forward.
The story so far;
• Founded in 2014 in London with a mission to make every man's morning better through British design, world-class craftsmanship, and meticulous sourcing.
• To date, Thomas Clipper has shipped to over 35 countries worldwide.
• Thomas Clipper has had three successful five-figure Kickstarter campaigns. Every product is made in small batches by world-class artisans.
• Available at Fortnum & Mason in London and The Rake online and shipping globally from Thomas Clipper
