Christmas: "Tis the season for an increase in shoplifting"
Although there are still 12 weeks to go until Christmas, many stores have started to display their Christmas stock. In recent years this has always led to an increase in shoplifting as offenders are attracted to the many gift sets and Christmas food and alcohol products available.
Research conducted by the Centre for Retail Research in 2013 indicates that thieves will steal an average of £37.04 per family.
Membership of the Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) can help stores combat the expected increase in shoplifting by providing access to offender images, up-to-date intelligence reports and a walkie-talkie radio which connects with all members, the BCRP and Police officers.
To find out more about the benefits of membership visit www.brightonbcrp.com or call the BCRP office on 01273 733 393.
