Bouygues and Crest Nicholson are the contenders to deliver a £40m sports centre and a minimum of 400 units of housing.
Crest Nicholson is best known locally for the zero carbon One Brighton
development in the New England Quarter and although the French owned company Bouygues hasn’t developed anything in Brighton & Hove it has plans for 380 homes in Benfield Valley [see earlier story
]. It is also an experienced global developer behind schemes such as the Mary Rose Museum in Portsmouth and the transformation of the Home Office in London.
Each developer will now be tasked to develop detailed plans showing how they will deliver the new facility on or off site at no cost to the city council before one is chosen to take their scheme forward.
