Christmas shoppers should look out for the “Stamp’n WIN!” posters in Hove and Portslade shops in the run-up to Christmas. A host of prizes are on offer including a top cash prize of £500.
All shoppers need do to take part is pick up a“Stamp’n WIN!” Christmas Shopping Trail Map from Hove Library, participating retailers, or from some of the city buses. Then visit any 12 of the shops on the map, get your map stamped by the shop, and send it in to Hove Business Association. Your completed map then goes into a prize draw, and you could win one of an array of prizes, including £500.
The whole promotion is being supported by Hove Business Association (HBA), which ran a similar initiative last year. It was praised by both retailers and shoppers alike. Jill Humphrey, HBA’s chairwoman, says: “The diversity of our independent retailers in Hove and Portslade is truly amazing! The whole idea of “Stamp’n WIN!” is to encourage more shoppers to visit these retailers – and I think they’re going to be delighted with the huge range of new and interesting products available in this part of the city which will help them get ready for Christmas!”
Local school children recently entered a competition to draw their favourite images of Christmas, and the winning ideas will be used throughout the “Stamp’n WIN!” competition. The judging has already taken place and winners will be announced shortly.
Many of last year’s retailers are participating again and there are lots more new businesses keen to ‘jump on board’ this year.
Charley Fryatt, from Xpress Beauty Salon, George Street, said: “Last year the Christmas Shopping Challenge was absolutely fantastic, the exposure that it gave to small independent businesses like mine was something that I just don’t have the budget to do on my own”
Martin Lawrence, of Lawrence Art Supplies, Portland Road, said: “We took part in last year’s Christmas Tree Challenge and we thought it was great. It brought together lots of shopkeepers, it got the public engaged in coming to visit our shops, perhaps even visiting a shop they had never visited before.”
