From 1 October 2014, if you're calling a Brighton phone number from a phone in the Brighton locality, you'll need to add the dialling code even though it's a local call.
This is an Ofcom change to make sure there are enough numbers to go around in future.
If you've stored any local numbers in your phone, you'll need to change them before 1 October to include the code 01273 at the start of the number.
If your phone system has features like call barring for national numbers or speed dialling for local numbers, you might need to reset them too.
Some phone systems can be reset remotely but others might need an engineer to visit.
Other equipment that might connect to a local number, such as your alarm system, will also need to be checked.
