Council Leader to step down
The Green Party leader of Brighton & Hove City Council – Jason Kitcat – is to step down before the next local [and national] elections in May 2015.
Both Councillor Kitcat and his wife Ania plan not to contest their Regency Ward seats. Jason Kitcat has been Leader of the council since 2012. His name was on the ballot paper for the recent European elections but he failed to be elected as an MEP.
His plans post May 2015 are not known although he intends to remain in the city and hopes to continue with public service. His eventual successor as convenor [leader] of the Green Party will be decided by democratic vote from within the Brighton & Hove Green Party.
