Retail vacancy rates looking healthy
As UK retail vacancy rates fall below 14% for the first time since 2010, in Brighton they are below 5% for the first time since the recession.
The figures, complied by Gavin Stewart, the manager of the city centre Business Improvement District [BID], also show the BID area vacancy rate tumbling to a fraction above 5%; down from 6.25% six months ago.
This represents one of the lowest city centre vacancy rates in the UK, outstripping London [8.9%] and the average for out-of-town shopping centres [less than 8%].
