A new scheme to allow students to showcase their CVs to potential employers has been launched by City College Brighton and Hove and BrightonandHoveJobs.com.
Using the power of BrightonandHoveJobs.com, City College students can upload their CVs for free, allowing local companies to search for particular skills and qualifications free of charge.
By using the service, employers can enter specific keywords and view actual CVs, giving students a better chance of securing the perfect job
with employers who may not have previously known of their availability. The college partnership scheme is believed to be the first of its kind in the UK, and is part of a commitment by City College and BrightonandHoveJobs.com to help reduce youth unemployment and promote local economic growth.
The CV search scheme is also being rolled out across BrightonandHoveJobs.com’s sister job boards covering the South East.
Gary Peters, founder of BrightonandHoveJobs.com, said: “The CV search function provides a fantastic opportunity for City College students to get ahead of the game when looking for a job and to ensure their CV lands on an employer’s desks even before the application stage. We really feel it hands them a powerful advantage in the hugely competitive job market.
“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with the College to deliver this scheme which adds real value to the career advice and assistance students receive. BrightonandHoveJobs.com continues to grow through its partnership working, and this latest scheme demonstrates why we are so keen to work hand in hand with the city's leading organisations. I would urge all local employers to use the CV Search.”
“This is a fantastic resource for our students”, said Kate Edwards, City College’s Head of Student Services “Aside from our commitment to giving students employability skills and making them work-ready, it’s vital that we’re always looking at new ways of creating more opportunities for them to find employment once they’ve finished their courses.”
“Gary Peters and BrightonandHoveJobs.com have proved to be outstanding partners for City College in recent years and this is just the latest example of the fruits of this partnership”, added Donna Keenan, the College’s Managing Director of City Business Skills.
