Sussex University announces £500m development plan
The university is to spend £0.5bn over five years expanding the north east area of its Falmer campus. The development is expected to generate 2,000 new jobs.
The plans include a new science block to accommodate research into genetics, pharmaceuticals and neurosciences. The existing library will be extended and new student accommodation valued at £150m will be built on the East Slope site.
Once complete the university will be able to offer on-site accommodation for 40% of its student body and further student living quarters are planned as part of the City College redevelopment.
