Local companies get the chance to take on graduate interns
The University of Brighton has announced that Santander UK will be part-funding graduate internship opportunities locally. The national scheme will create an opportunity for twenty five local businesses to take on a skilled graduate for three months with Santander paying half the cost.
The programme is open to small-to-medium-enterprises with less than 250 employees and with a turnover of less than £50m. Those offering the best experience for the student and the capacity to recruit full time will get first refusal.
The placements are three months in duration. There is no fixed timescale and they can begin from August 2013 onwards. Santander provide £1500 and the company would be expected to fund at least the other half with the intern receiving a minimum of £3000 in total for three months.
The University of Brighton can assist the company in creating the advert, promoting the role and advising on the short-listing process, but the final decision on appointment is made by the company.
As a condition of granting the funding, a representative from Santander will be in contact to discuss the company’s business needs and whether there is any possibility of working together.
