Green space plans for Circus Street
Brighton & Hove City Council has awarded Cathedral Group a variety of temporary planning permissions to reinvigorate the old municipal market building in Circus Street Brighton while they prepare long-term proposals for regenerating the area.
Prior to the submission of a planning application, which may take up to two years to put together, a green space is being designed by JLG landscape architects and urban designers, who will make a huge, live elm tree the centrepiece of the site. The intention is for this to mark the start of the eventual redevelopment of the site and stay there forever.
Plans include new homes, an art library and teaching building, student halls of residence and a new HQ for South East Dance, including community dance space and were consulted on earlier this year. Architects shedkm
are currently adapting designs in response to local feedback for submission to planning committee later this year.
