Network Rail agrees £2m Stadium station upgrade
Network Rail has agreed to spend £2m upgrading the Lewes to Brighton line and extending the platform at Falmer Station which serves the football stadium on match days.
The platform extension should be ready at the end of the year which, together with signalling upgrades, will allow the line to handle more trains per hour. Currently the maximum frequency is every 8 minutes.
About a third of football fans [about 10,000 for a full match] currently travel to the stadium by train.
