The Councils Health & Safety Team has launched the consultation on this year’s service plan which details the work they will be doing over the next year. They would welcome the views of businesses.
The Environmental Health & Licensing, Health & Safety Team is the enforcing authority for over 9,000 businesses in the City for Health & Safety related matters.
This covers both working areas and public access in premises such as shops, hotels, offices, catering (including pubs, clubs and restaurants) and sports & leisure facilities. The types of hazards that are considered include: manual handling, slipping & tripping, asbestos, hazardous substances, noise and vibration, machinery use, fire and explosion risk.
Each year the team responds to 600 enquiries, carries out 300 accident investigations, inspections of premises including the City’s cooling towers and ensures that the City’s large outdoor events run safely.
The Council would like to hear your views on its plans for this year. The City’s Health & Safety Service Plan can be viewed on http://consult.brighton-hove.gov.uk/portal .
The consultation will run for 6 weeks.
