Investing in a horror film may not be something many people think about doing but there are benefits to be gained. Backtrack is an independent horror film set on the South Downs and it is seeking backers but you don’t have to be a millionaire.
Investment in the film, which is a live-action, 90-minute horror film about four friends who go camping and end up quite literally tortured by their past, is hoping to offer an entry point to Hollywood.
The Brighton based production company is offering 48% of the film and its profits to external investors. They predict a 33% return and are seeking a total equity investment of £50,000 over two years. By their calculation a £2,000 investment may see a return of £660 over two years or the full £50,000 might see a return of £16,500.
Recognising that filmmaking is inherently risky and investors should only invest what they can afford without compromising themselves financially, the company is minimising the risk by seeking multiple investors i.e. syndicates of individuals to get together so that each is only required to invest a small sum.
The production company has a Hollywood screenwriter on their books and the film will be set in the unique attractions and natural beauty of Brighton and the South Downs.
