Former Chair of Economic Partnership features in New Year’s honours list
Simon Fanshawe, the founder of the Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership and its Chair for twelve years until earlier this year, has been awarded an OBE.
The award is for services to higher education in his role as Chair of the Council of the University of Sussex, a post he has held since 2007.
His civic life in Brighton began when he spearheaded the campaign for city status in 2000. He was also the first Chair of the SEEDA-funded Economic Partnership when it was formed in 2001. The Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership is the only one of nine across the south east to have survived the demise of SEEDA in 2011.
Simon Fanshawe stepped down from the Partnership in April 2012 to concentrate on his business interests. Gary Peters was elected in the same month [see earlier story]
