A pilot project to support Brighton’s social enterprises administered by Legal & General [L&G] and CAF has allocated a package worth £15,000 plus mentoring from L&G staff to four aspiring companies in the city.
The project, called Social Enterprise Assist, has awarded a £10,000 interest free loan and £5,000 of consultancy to four companies; Sussex Community Internet Project [SCIP], the Little Green Pig Writing Project, HisBe and Parentskool.
The steering group of the pilot, which includes representation from the Economic Partnership, L&G, CAF and The Argus, is chaired by the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Peter Field.
A second round of applications is anticipated in the New Year. If the pilot proves to be successful it could be rolled out across the UK with financil assistance from other large corporate interested in supporting social enterprises.
