Sackville Hotel site application wins on appeal
The owners of the site of the former 45-room Sackville Hotel in Hove, which was demolished in 2006 after the roof collapsed during refurbishment works, have successfully appealed against the local authority’s rejection of a planning application for new family homes
The city council’s planning committee rejected the application in March [see earlier story] because it compromised the surrounding conservation area. With the advent of the new National Planning Policy Framework [NPPF] [see earlier story] with its presumption in favour of sustainable developments, owners Michael Deol and Robert Webb decided to appeal the decision with the National Planning Inspectorate [PINS]. Work on a modern terrace of 6 hses & 3 apartments is expected to start early next year.
