Over the past 5 years, local developer Matsim Properties has assembled nearly 2.4 hectares of land adjacent to Hove Station and has now unveiled £100m plans for a potentially transformative development called Hove Square.
It is anticipated that the bus garage in Conway Street will be incorporated into the scheme by moving the existing facility to a new purpose build garage at Hollingbury.
The plans include 8,360 sq metres of office space, a 9 screen multiplex cinema, 380 residential units, an exhibition space, a new public square and large and small retail units at ground floor level. There will also be a new pedestrian route called New Conway Street that passes through the middle of the development with direct access from the railway station at one end and access to Poets Corner at the other.
The scheme exploits the existing nexus of rail and buses at the station to offer sustainable transport options for visitors and residents.
