The 3,700 sq metres office block in Gloucester Place that benefitted from a multi-million pound refurbishment increasing its BREEAM sustainability rating to “very good” has attracted another tenant – Mediatonic - expanding from a London base.
Formed in 2005, Mediatonic is an independent developer focusing on producing high quality original games on a variety of platforms. As well as working on original titles, the Brighton office will include teams developing new features and content for live products, advancing its cloud infrastructure, and using analytical tools to learn from the demands of millions of game players worldwide.
The expansion into Brighton is testament to the company’s rapid growth and Brighton's reputation for gaming. Mediatoic’s Soho office, which relocated to larger premises only six months ago, is already approaching capacity which significantly exceeds their growth plans announced in January.
Mediatonic intends to double its workforce hiring up to 50 positions across all disciplines in the year ahead, with an emphasis on mobile and web technologies.
Dave Bailey, Mediatonic’s CEO, said, “Having lived in Brighton & Hove for many years it’s obvious how much creative and technical talent can be found on the doorstep. Plus, a city this vibrant makes an awesome setting for making games.”
