An addition to the world-famous Lanes
Local property company Centurion Group and Royal Bank of Scotland’s West Register development company are jointly proposing to complete the Lanes jigsaw by adding a new lane between Brighton Place and Meeting House Lane.
The new lane – called Hannington Lane - will occupy the site of the service yard of the old Hannington’s Department store which was converted back into individual shop units in 2002. The development will include small retail units in keeping with the current retail offer, office space and a new boutique hotel while retaining the existing car park under Brighton Square. The Square itself will be modernised and benefit from the addition of an extra storey. Centurion Group acquired the Brighton Square property portfolio at the beginning of 2012. The service yard belongs to West Register. The proposed development will open up new pedestrian links between the Lanes and North Street next to a retail unit currently occupied by Cargo Homewares. Local architects Morgan Carn Partnership will be responsible for designing the scheme.
