Dragons' Den investor & serial entrepreneur Doug Richards will host nine half-day “Windows of Opportunity” roadshows this October and November that will demonstrate financing options for small young businesses seeking funding to grow.
The shows will also show investors how to take advantage of government tax breaks if they invest in young small firms. The events will feature high-profile business and investment figures including business angel Dale Murray, Seedrs CEO Jeff Lynn, and Market Invoice CEO Anil Stocker.
This is part of a wider campaign to raise awareness – amongst investors and businesses – of the government’s Seed Enterprise Investment (SEIS) scheme, which offers tax relief for investments in young start-ups. For qualifying equity investments up to £100,000, the government will provide tax relief covering up to 50% of the investor’s outlay. It also offers capital gains tax exemption on any gains that should arise from disposal of the shares.
The south east and south west roadshows are being held at the following venues:
- Plymouth Pavilion: 24th October
- Colston Hall, Bristol: 25th October
- Coronet Theatre, London: 14th November
- Guildhall, Portsmouth: 27th November
The roadshows are run by School for Start Ups in conjunction with Growth Accelerator www.growthaccelerator.com, the new service for businesses with high growth potential.
