Developer doesn’t give up on plans for Co-Op

The Watkin Jones Group’s planning application for the demolition of the Co-Op department store in London Road and the construction of over 400 student apartments was rejected in December last year. Now new plans have been submitted.

Watkin Jones still proposes student accommodation in a new application due for submission next month but reduced to 351 units and keeping the western elevation of 1930s building. Retail is proposed on the ground floor. The building has been empty for 5 years.
