Another strategic director to leave Council
Terry Parkin – Strategic Director for People and the postholder for the statutory position of senior officer for education, children’s services and health – has announced he is to leave Brighton & Hove City Council in the autumn for a similar post with Bromley Borough Council.
He is the third of four strategic directors to announce his departure together with Charlie Stewart [Resources] and David Murray [Communities] and the Chief Executive John Barradell. All three directors started working in Brighton & Hove in or around October 2010. They were brought in as part of a radical reorganisation of the senior management team under the Conservative leadership of Councillor Mary Mears. No announcement has been made about the replacement of any of the directors or the CEO and the Green Adminitration is on record saying in March 2011 that the strategic director layer of management was not needed. In the same month they asked John Barradell to delete one post which was widely assumed to be that of Director of Communities.
