This four year strategy provides a framework to bring together and build on the range of commitments to become a low carbon city and activities to combat climate change.
The strategy is broken down into 5 main strands to provide focus, and to influence other work going on in the city and council:
- Low carbon economy
- Low carbon buildings
- Low carbon transport
- Sustainable and renewable energy
- Adapting to climate change
A dedciated website has an introduction to each strand (or outcome), together with what the City is doing already and planned next steps. It also sets out how the strategy will be managed – which summarises the agreed responsibilities for taking this work forward – and provides details about policy, data and targets.
The focus initially is around building on what is already happening and influencing key strands of work, such as the revision of the city’s economic strategy, the new city plan, the new transport plan, resilience planning and taking forward the recommendations of scrutiny work.
