|Cllr. Bill Randall|
Council Leader to step down next year
The leader of Brighton and Hove City Council – Bill Randall - will step down in April and become the [ceremonial] mayor.
Bill Randall was the UK's first Green Party leader of a local authority when the Greens became a minority administration in May.
He announced his departure from the leadership and put himself forward as a mayoral candidate at the full council meeting last night.
Speculation over his replacement includes Cllr Amy Kennedy [Planning, Employment, Regeneration & Economy], Jason Kitcat [Finance & Central Services], Ian Davey [Transport & Public Realm] and Pete West [Environment & Sustainability] who was the original Green councillor elected nearly a decade ago.
