Building on the success of the scheme in London Road and Brighton City Centre, the Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) and Sussex Police are keen to focus on capturing more intelligence in Hove so that they can identify and target the most proflific offenders.
In order to do this BCRP are encouraging Hove members to submit more reports on theft/shoplifting and anti-social behaviour as, without them, they cannot build up a true picture of what's happening in Hove.
Sussex Police are willing to allocate resources to tackling business crime in Hove, but the BCRP needs to capture intelligence to help target and direct these.
A member of BCRP staff will be in the area on a fortnightly basis to meet Hove members, pass on Police Intelligence and address any concerns or queries.
As we head into the crucial Christmas trading period, BCRP aims to tackle the increase in shoplifting, normally associated with this period, head on with the help of Hove members.
BCRP members have access to a radio which links them to other BCRP businesses, prolific offender photographs, Police intelligence and crime prevention training.
Intelligence gathered by BCRP is currently helping Sussex Police to direct the resources of its newly formed theft team which is focusing on the most proflific offenders in the city centre.
