LEPs to play a role in new infrastructure fund
The £500m Growing Places fund announced last month is intended to "kick-start developments that are currently stalled" as well as deliver key infrastructure and create jobs. The Treasury has announced that the fund would be available through Local Enterprise Partnerships [LEPs].
LEPs will determine the priorities in their area and allocate any Growing Places funding accordingly. LEPs are expected to play an important role in shaping priorities. The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and the Department for Transport (DfT) will be responsible for the fund and that they will continue to develop the Treasury's proposal in the coming weeks.
