A 'May Day' protest is due to take place in Brighton City Centre on Saturday 30th April 2011.
Police intelligence suggests that Sussex-based protesters are organising a 'mass protest and party' in Brighton between noon and 4.00pm on 30/04/11. The meeting point is believed to be the Clock Tower in Brighton.
A number of groups are likely to be involved and the police expect in excess of 500 protesters to attend. The ‘threat’ assessment has been classified as high for disruption to Brighton City Centre.
There may be damage to public and commercial premises and there is likely to be some disruption arising from Police intervention.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team will be contacting the vulnerable premises in Brighton city centre to discuss their security arrangements, obtain contact details and establish any potential contingencies.
Approximately 150 public order-trained officers with miscellaneous specialist teams, including horses and dogs, are on stand by. The resourcing level will be reviewed on 26/04/11.
