Brighton and Hove is a destination known for quirky sights including a skateboarding dog in the North Laine, the stylish Tuc Tuc that was used to ferry visitors around the city, and now Hove retailer Doggy Fashion is launching a pram for elderly or infirm pets.
The idea for this new service began when Gordon Fletcher of Doggy Fashion received a request to provide a doggy buggy for a customer with an elderly dog that was having problems walking.
Gordon and his partner Kevin Newman thought this novel mode of transport would complement their other comprehensive range of pet services - which include coiffeur, couture, hotel, park and shop, pickup and drop off, as well as local deliveries.
They have therefore invested in the new Rent a Pram Service which is available to both residents and visitors for as little as £3 per hour.
Kevin said “We have received many unusual requests over the last 15 years since we opened our first store in Kemp Town, and we are prepared for comments about getting cats and dogs trollied in the city! However, these prams are fantastically eye-catching as well as being practical, and are suitable to wheel a dog, cat, ferret, or indeed whatever you like around the city!”
