The University of Brighton is working with City Clean and the Brighton and Hove Business Forum on a project to improve waste services to businesses throughout the city. Researchers have already surveyed over 100 businesses to find out how they manage their waste.
The feedback collected will help the Waste Strategy Group (made up of key business association representatives) to devise a plan to improve current services. This information has also been fed back to the government as part of their review of waste services.
The University is now looking to undertake analysis on the type and quantities of waste and recycling generated from businesses in Brighton & Hove. Businesses are being invited to come forward to participate in the project. This will involve saving a day/week’s worth of waste and recycling which the University will then collect, analyse and dispose of.
The project will also give businesses the opportunity to provide feedback on current services. The research will commence in early/mid March and the results will be used to assess how services could be improved.
