Global optical firm Rayner based in Hove has indicated that it will leave the city and move to Worthing because it cannot find a site to accommodate its growth which would increase employment from 170 to 300 jobs over the next three years.
The firm has an international reputation for precision intraocular lenses and employs a highly skilled workforce most of whom live close to Rayner’s offices in Sackville Trading Estate. They have signalled an intention to move to the old Europharm factory in Dominion Way in Worthing.
ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIP COMMENT
At a time when the city is trying to create 8,000 more jobs over the next decade just to stand still it is a great shame that it might lose high-tech manufacturing jobs that are well paid and highly skilled.
