Manchester strikes favourable compromise to reduce chuggers
Manchester's city centre management initiative, CityCo, has struck a most favourable deal with the Public Fund-raising Regulatory Association (PFRA). Fundraisers (commonly known as chuggers) will only be allowed to operate on three specified days of the week.
In an agreement between the city's business community and the charity association specific zones within Manchester city centre have been identified where chuggers may operate and the days they can work have been restricted to Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays between 9am and 6pm.
Business leaders in Brighton have held negotiations with the PFRA in the past but found them to be resistant to restrictions on days or zones.
Developments in Manchester would suggest a sea change at the top of the organisation and perhaps a new opportunity for Brighton’s city centre manager and couoncil officials to revisit negotiations with the PFRA....Watch this space.
