Wired Sussex recruits 2,000th member

Memberhsip of Wired Sussex, the Brighton-based membership organisation for companies and freelancers operating in the digital, media and technology sector has hit the 2,000 mark.

Cogapp were the amongst the first companies to sign up as a Wired Sussex members in 1997 and digital design studio FentonForeman are the 2000th.

Ian Fenton of Fenton Foremen said, “We’re delighted to be the 2000th Wired Sussex member company. As a start-up, it’s really important for us to feel connected with what other companies are doing. Plus it’s great just being part of such a vibrant, fast-growing network.”

Alex Morrison of Cogapp added, “It’s been astonishing to witness the pace of growth of the digital sector since we joined Wired Sussex in 1997, particularly in the last 3 or 4 years. That there are now 2000 companies operating across the region and signed up to Wired Sussex speaks volumes for the strength of our cluster and how robust it is in challenging economic circumstances. We’re proud to be part of Wired Sussex and proud of its collective strength.”

Of the 2,000 members over 1,000 are based in Brighton making the city the fastest growing hub for digital media in the UK.

Wired Sussex Director Phil Jones said, “We’re so proud of the work that our members do and aim to continue to support them as much as possible. That there are now 2,000 members networked together is fantastic. It’s great to be able to quantify what we’ve known for a long time, that the city punches way beyond its weight in terms of both the number of companies and the influence those companies exert nationally and internationally. ‘

‘There’s a real diversity there too – the last ten companies who joined include 2 design studios, an e-commerce outfit, a film production company, a PR firm and a telecoms company. We can offer these companies strategic support around promotion, employee recruitment and funding, plus help finding workspace and with supporting local networks. If you are starting up or running a digital or media business in Sussex, we can help.’

Wired Sussex is celebrating the success of the sector they support with a giant networking event open to all Wired Sussex member companies on Thursday 3rd March 2011 in Brighton. Registration and more information here:
