Cheap parking is being offered in one of Brighton ’s main car parks to attract Christmas shoppers. Regency Square car park – a pebble’s-throw from the main shops and seafront – is charging just £3 for three hours.
At the same time the council has produced a YouTube video promoting the city’s unique shopping scene. It particularly focuses on the hundreds of independent shops and cafes in the Lanes and North Lane areas.
It has been viewed 1500 times within a few days of release. See the video by searching ‘YouTube Brighton Christmas shopping’.
Councillor Geoffrey Theobald , Cabinet Member for Environment, said, “Every day drivers sit in long queues for the Churchill Square car parks when just a few metres along the seafront the underground Regency Square car park often has empty spaces.
“The top end of the car park is just a few minutes walk for Western Road and Churchill Square and within easy reach of all the city’s huge range of shops, cafes and restaurants.
“This promotion should help put the Regency Square car park firmly on the map for shoppers as well as saving them money during this expensive time of year.
”It’s also part of the council’s drive to support local businesses by encouraging residents and visitors to shop in Brighton & Hove this Christmas.”
