Brighton & Hove City Council is inviting the business community, voluntary sector and public agencies operating within the city to seize an opportunity to bid for RGF monies being offered by the Coalition Government as part of Brighton & Hove’s involvement in the Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
The City of Brighton & Hove forms part of the Coast to Capital LEP and is eligible to bid alongside partners in Croydon, the Gatwick Diamond area and West Sussex.
Securing scarce public resources for economic development through an RGF bid will be challenging. The Chairman of the national independent advisory panel, Lord Heseltine, has already signalled an expectation that much of the available funding will be allocated to regions in the North and West of England.
That said ‘nothing ventured, nothing gained’ and having been confirmed a LEP area [see earlier story], there is a compelling case that targeted investment in the South East region not only can address areas of employment deprivation but also drive forward the UK’s economic recovery and growth.
