Brighton & Hove City Council’s Economic Development department has commissioned Step Ahead Research to undertake an assessment of worklessness in the city and to develop a new City Employment and Skills Plan [CESP] covering the period up to 2014. It will build on the groundbreaking original which covered the period from 2008 to 2010.
The original CESP, also produced by Step Ahead Research, was responsible for debunking many of the myths surrounding the employment & skills landscape in the city and led to the formation of a successful cross-agency steering group with a clear action plan and deliverables.
The new plan is due to be completed early in 2011 and has been divided into three stages:
Stage 1: Review of the organisation, focus and functions of the City Employment and Skills Steering Group (CESSG)
Stage 2: Assess the skills, employment and worklessness dynamics within the city; and develop draft priorities, actions and targets/indicators;
Stage 3: Develop and consult on the draft plan and undertake an equality impact assessment.
