The Brighton and Hove Business Forum has recently appointed Maddy Carr as Hove’s new Town Centre Manager, following the departure of Gavin Stewart to work in London with Greenwich Borough Council.
Maddy Carr joined the Business Forum in 2004, and has been working as Brighton’s Assistant City Centre Manager for the past 3 years, promoting independent businesses through Brighton and Hove’s Shopping and Eating Out Guide, and managing markets, outdoor events and festivals. Talking about her new role, Maddy said, ‘I am delighted to be appointed Hove’s new Town Centre Manager. I grew up here and so I have a great fondness for the town and a good working knowledge of the business community and its challenges.
"I strengthened my ties with Hove in recent years by managing a number of markets and outdoor events on Hove Lawns, aimed at attracting visitors to spend their leisure time and money here rather than in a neighbouring city. I also enjoyed the experience of working with the local business associations and other partnerships on the Business Forum’s ‘Business in Regeneration’ project.
"Hove is evolving with a real character of its own, and showing strong signs of establishing itself as an energetic business hub, with a strong restaurant sector and a retail offering that is becoming more eclectic.
"It will be an exciting challenge to work with the police, ward councillors and representatives from local businesses to make Hove a nicer place for both residents and visitors, to implement new ideas and to ensure that the business community continues to thrive."
