On 8 April, the city council submitted its Core Strategy Development Plan Document to the Secretary of State for examination by an independent Planning Inspector before it is adopted early in 2011. An public meeting has been arranged for 20th May.
Inspector Roland Punshon has been appointed to conduct the examination to determine whether the Core Strategy is sound and deliverable.
In response to his initial assessment of the Core Strategy the Inspector has called for an Exploratory Meeting to look into the Council’s approach to housing delivery and particularly its reliance on windfall sites to deliver housing targets. The exploratory meeting will be held at 2pm on Thursday 20 May, Committee Room 3, Hove Town Hall.
The exploratory meeting is for the Inspector to consider whether Council’s approach to housing delivery is supported by strong evidence but he will not address the soundness of the Core Strategy nor any representations that have been made at this meeting.
The Inspector has invited a number of attendees who have requested an opportunity to input into the Examination but it is also open to the public but registration is necessary in advance from Andreas Homeyer on 01273 290540 or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership responded to the Core Strategy [see earlier story] and will be attending the meeting.
