Individuals, local businesses and organisations with an interest in Brighton & Hove are being invited to make final comments on a planning blueprint for the city before it goes to examination in public.
The Core Strategy will be considered by an independent planning inspector later this year before it can be formally adopted. The inspector will look at whether the strategy complies with legal requirements and is a sound plan. It is these aspects of the Core Strategy that local people are invited to comment on for the inspector to consider.
The Local Development Framework Core Strategy sets out the vision for future development in Brighton & Hove to 2026. In theory it should enable the council to focus on homes and jobs, build on the city’s success as a tourist destination and make sure there is the right infrastructure to support all new developments, such as education, healthcare, green space and transport links.
The Core Strategy addresses the local economy and the climate for growing businesses and it will determine the potential for further development and change in Brighton & Hove.
You can find the Core Strategy and its supporting documents, along with details on how to make comments, online at www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/ldf or at the council’s Citydirect centres and libraries. Alternatively contact the council at ldf@brighton-hove.gov.uk or call the Local Development Team on 01273 292505.
The Economic Partnership has responded to earlier drafts of the strategy.
The consultation period will run from 5 February to 22 March 2010.
