Footfall figures from w/c 11 January 2010, show the count rise over 20% from the previous week to a total of 187,159. The end of the big freeze bringing welcome relief to city centre traders.
The cumulative weekly total (the average footfall thus far for 2010 compared to the same period in 2009) also rose more than 10% to minus 33.3%.
Nationally, the end of the cold spell saw an average rise of 6.7%. In Brighton, a weekly high of 34,926 was recorded on Saturday 16th January with a high of 4,785 between 4pm and 5pm on that day.
