Council gives Amex the green light for protection of over 3,000 jobs
Brighton & Hove City Council has granted American Express planning consent to build a new 335,000 sq ft office complex behind its existing European Headquarters in Edward St. A fantastic coup for the city in the teeth of the recession.
The £130m development will represents a resounding vote of confidence in Brighton & Hove’s workforce and business environment as well as providing up to 1000 jobs during the construction phase.
Work is expected to commence in March of next year.
City Council cabinet member Cllr Ted Kemble said; “We’ve given this project every possible backing as part of the city council’s priority to support business and create jobs. It’s a tremendous day for the local economy and we should be proud of ourselves at securing investment every other UK city would envy”
