Brighton's businesses pooled their resources to put on the Unique Brighton Fashion Show on Sunday 6th September. Unique Brighton is the brand name of the city centre Business Improvement District (BID).
The show took place on East Street from 2.00pm and was an opportunity for business to take their merchandise to the visiting public.
It was a great example of partnership working. Twenty-five retailers large and small came together in a show of solidarity and defiance of the recession.
From the big multiples such as French Connection, Hobbs, LK Bennett, East and Coast to little independents such Hope and Harlequin, JuJu, Velvet and Fruity the retailers of Unique Brighton were united for a day.
Other businesses also joined the effort. The Grand Hotel and the Hilton offered rooms for the models to rehearse. The Bagelman and Hoppers Brewery provided refreshments for the models and Gunns decorated the stage with amazing floral displays.
The best models were awarded contracts with model agencies Profile and The Zebra Collection. ZT Fitness gave prizes of free subscriptions to two lucky winners and Bloom provided all the make-up for the day.
Rush Hair stylists work all morning to preen and groom the 24 models and the clothing retailers showered the models with gifts to show their appreciation.
A great day was had by all and and some retailers have reported a significant increase in sales on the day.
