A new not-for-profit organisation has opened in Pelham Street near the North Laine. The Rag 'n' Bone Co aims to 'benefit and fund the creativity and livelihoods of local artists.'
The Rag ‘n’ Bone Company’s vision is to become a hive of creativity and energy within in the local community. It will be a shop of oddities and curiosities, with a focus on creative display and exhibiting of the products and pieces, whilst simultaneously functioning as a venue for stand-alone exhibitions, live music and arts events.
So far the company has recruited a team of independent musicians and artists specialising in set-design, handcrafted jewellery, bird-boxes, furniture, bespoke millinery, ribbon art, original literary works and books, hand printed wallpaper original artwork and vintage goods.
To renew and keep the space exciting and fresh, the organisers plan to have new themes for exhibits approximately every 2 months, with special events and openings running along side each new exhibit. We hope by bringing together a collective of creative people it will be a recipe for collaborations and projects and haven for local artists and shoppers looking for something unique and original.
