The majority of these relate to insecure staff areas being entered and items such as mobile phones stolen.

There has also been an increase in daytime thefts of laptops at insecure premises in the North Laine area.

Sussex Police are urging business owners to make sure staff areas are secure at all times and personal belongings are not left behind tills and counters as they are a very easy target for thieves.
