Sussex Police have received a good response to their invitation to local businesses and their staff to attend a free training session to help them to identify and deal with suspicious behaviour. Aimed at counter-terrorism business people have also recognised that spotting the signs of suspicious behaviour could be helpful in a variety of situations e.g. retail staff on the shop-floor looking out for shop lifters.
This event will be held in the Brighton Centre and participants will develop an awareness of counter terrorism issues and other security/criminal activities. Specialists from a number of organisations including the police and military will deliver dynamic presentations on the day that will empower business people to provide a safer environment for staff and customers.
There are two opportunities to attend on Tuesday 14th July and Thursday 16th July 2009 and each day starts at 9.30 a.m. and finishes at approximately 3.00 p.m. with lunch and refreshments provided.
A great deal of interest has already been expressed by many businesses in the city and Sussex Police are asking those interested to reserve a space by emailing Victoria.morris@sussex.pnn.police.uk as soon as possible with
- your chosen date (14th or 16th July)
- the name of your business
- the names of the staff you wish to attend
All those attending must bring identification on the day and this will be confirmed against the attendance list. A certificate and badge validating completion of this awareness training will be presented to participants at the end of the training.
