City’s universities climb up the league tables

The Guardian newspaper’s Universities Guide 2010 has seen both Brighton & Hove’s universities improve their performance in the league tables with the University of Sussex now being second only to Oxford in the south-east.

In the Guide Sussex was ranked as the top university in the country to study Chemistry and 5th best for Sociology with American Studies and Biosciences coming 7th.

Brighton University had six of its courses named among the top performers in the UK including Transport & Travel, Engineering, Mathematics, Pharmacy & Pharmacology and Art & Design.
