Kier Group appointed to build new Falmer Academy

Fresh from completing a £3.3m facelift of the Cedars Manor School in Harrow the Crawley based Kier Group has been appointed to build the replacement for Falmer High School.

The company was recently awarded a £27m contract by Network Rail to renew the massive barrel-vaulted glass roof at King's Cross Station. They anticipate that work on Falmer will start in summer and it will take a year to complete the first phase.

Philomena Hogg, currently the Head Teacher at Woodhouse College in Tamworth, Staffordshire, has been appointed as Principal Designate of Falmer Academy. She will take up her post in September 2009 and will become Principal when the Academy opens in September 2010.
