Brighton & Hove’s Health & Safety team is setting up a new free service for small businesses.
The team has created a new service to advise companies on how they can comply with the law without burdening them with unnecessary cost.
Brighton & Hove City Council’s health and safety team is the enforcing authority for health and safety in more than 9,000 city businesses. These include shops, hotels, offices, catering, (including pubs, clubs and restaurants) and sports and leisure facilities.
The team spends a considerable amount of time working with small and medium-sized business providing advice and guidance promoting sensible risk management. They can provide help with risk assessments, working from height, manual handling, lone working, slip trips and falls, preventing violence at work, asbestos, hazardous substances, noise and vibration.
Each month the team will send out an advice email to businesses with helpful tips on how to comply with health and safety requirements.
Councillor Geoffrey Theobald, cabinet member for environment, said: “Our Environmental Health Department has a wealth of resources and expertise that businesses can tap into to make their workplaces safer. They will be sharing that expertise through emails to keep businesses up to date and well informed.”
Any business that wishes to be on the email circulation list should email firstname.lastname@example.org
