May Day Disruption in Brighton
On Monday 4th May 2009 (May Day) there will be a protest in the city centre, which is likely to contain anti-capitalist and anti-war campaigners.
Although Sussex Police do not anticipate any serious disorder it is likely that there will be some disruption on the day.
The organisers have declined to liaise with the police so it is difficult to assess how much disruption but it seems likely that normal shopping patterns may be interrupted. This is a pity at a time when retailers, especially small independents, are facing considerable difficulties and need all the trade they can get.
The Chief Inspector responsible for Neighbourhood Policing in the City is Laurence Taylor and if any businesses have any specific concerns or become aware of any issues that might be relevant to the policing of the day contact him on firstname.lastname@example.org
